Perfect location
Shelter Jordan hostel is in the western part of Amsterdam's city centre, right in the middle of the quiet and picturesque Jordaan (Jordan) area. The Jordaan is famous for its beautiful canals, 17th century houses and trendy boutiques and makes the perfect place to stay if you don't want to be right in the busy centre of town. Anne Frank's house is just at the end of our street and Dam Square and Leidseplein are only a 10-15 minute walk away. There's a tram and bus stop just around the corner from the hostel taking you to the train station (8 minutes) or the rest of the city. The bus station just 400m away has direct buses to the airport. You can rent a bike from us to explore the city or beyond.
Small enough to care
Most of the accommodation is in single-sex rooms with 4, 5, 6 or 8 beds giving you the privacy and comfort you desire - there are also two dormitories with 18 beds if you're looking for the cheapest option and want to meet other guests. There is one locker for each bed in the bedrooms. You need to bring your own padlock; or you can buy one from us. The bathrooms are all shared, with separate facilities for men and for women. With less than 100 beds the hostel is smaller than many in Amsterdam, creating an atmosphere where it's easy to feel at home and make friends. The courtyard garden is a great place to hang out when the sun's shining and you can buy drinks, snacks and meals in the cafe. We cook a home-made dinner each evening for our staff and you are very welcome to join us for just 5 euros. You'll also find games to play, books to read, tables where you can write your journal, comfy chairs where you can relax and chat to other guests and internet computers and WIFI to keep in touch with home.

The guests as well as the staff come from all over the world and have a passion for travelling around Europe as well as exploring the hidden delights of Amsterdam.
